Well guys,

Today I went to see my best pal for the last time due to a long battle with cancer.
He won't make Wednesday :(
So let's stop fannying about and nominate a suitable location for this years National.
Life is too short my friends !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you guys think ?????
And any body that says "that is too far away from me " can get stuffed, we are an "adventure " site :D If me and the rest of the Scottish mob can make the effort ??
C'mon guys -- let's do it

And cheer me up, for that is what I need right now

Hi John, sorry to hear of your impending loss,Yes, there's many people passing away and they seem to be forgotten. We lost my wife's brother to cancer a while ago, harrowing is a term I would not use lightly.
But we must go on.
Something familiar, to me any way, let's go back to dent, the nice campsite of course.
I have a good route down now, unlike that horror that my sat nav took us on last time.
Somewhere I know, to regroup a bit.

Said good bye to one of my mates 2 weeks ago. Diagnosed under 2 months ago. Sad times John.
Was looking at sites North of the border, seen as you all regularly have the longest run.
Found a site, it turned out to be the one LWR uses for the ADV meet. Was supposed to come up and look and see what you guys thought as you would be going twice in one year.
Thoughts??

Strontian site is limited on numbers but I think we'd struggle to get to the max figure that the sites license allows - think its 40 persons - but it would need sorting soonest cos the place does get well used and if we wanted a large enough group booking, the more notice the site has the better. Craig (LWR) gets a provisional site booking near enough a year in advance

The Kelso gig was a great one, it being a good ride north and south for those attending, so everyone (except the soup spiller frae Selkirk of course :thumbsupanim:) gets to put some miles in to get there and get home again.

I'm popping down to Dent in May with both sons for a bit of a dirty weekend . . . on the trails ;), using the site that Hudders avoids cos its too posh . It's a UKGSer meet, but they tolerate non beemer riders .

As they said in some film, "Build it and they will come".

Sorry to hear about your pal, John. A pal of mine since I was about 12 years-old has blood cancer and it doesn't look good. :(

I'm determined to make it to this years national no matter where it is even if it's just for one night.

Up North would be nice, though if the past 5 years have taught me anything it's to not even give the merest hint of hoping I might be able to make it over.

And condolences. This reality sucks...

Yes, please! Be good to catch up, have some laughs.

Been a tough few years. Lost Dad and Step- Nan in the same week just over a year ago.

Currently bogged down with some home renovations, but looking forward to getting out soon!

Count me in. You are right life is too short. I'm on holiday 15th to 21st Sept so any weekend before that would be good

with you mate...this is so sad, if all goes according to plan, I will buy you a single malt in May to soothe the pain. Life seems to be so unfair at times.
I would love to make the National this year and would consider travelling some distance, I am not sure I would have the luxury of heading all the back "oop" north just for a weekend .....:( how about somewhere in the middle of the park...? That would be my suggestion but obviously it will have to be a forum decision.

Good luck with the 6 Nations !

Sorry to hear that John.

I've only missed a couple of national meets (the very first & last ones funnily enough!)
It's been a rollercoaster year or 5 for us so a bit of bike time & a meetup would be welcome - wherever it is [emoji106]

Well I need thoughts from Scottish boys Strontium as to go there often or how about
Oban Caravan and Camping Park for somewhere different?
Anywhere else?
Dates for second weekend will be 07/09/22 - 11/09/22, provided we can get moving and book.

Sorry to be pedantic but the place is called Strontian, and I have been there many times over the years for LWR's rally and would not be too keen as the national is not long after Craigs do, just my opinion obviously and other opinions are available of course. That place at Oban looks good and I have never been there before so it may be worth a look.

Oban would make a fantastic base. Epic rides on great roads in every direction (except west of course).

Andy, Craigs do is in June - thats 3 months apart if my addled brain is working correctly!

Apologies Andy I was copy and pasting off phone [emoji17]

I also thought that would be the opinion of the Scottish contingent. I looked at the site last year but didn't know it was the one Craig used until I spoke to him.

Ouch did you see the price?
£21 for tent per night, unless I have misread
Hopefully they would reduce for group.
