We took a road that wasn't on the map and paid an £8 privilege for it but at around 4500 feet the snow thickened up until there was more snow than not and there was loads of Nordic Skiing going on. Good to watch for a while. It wasn't unusual in urban areas to see people on long roller blade type things with ski poles absolutely whizzing along on the cycle tracks

I was crossing to the main camp on foot in the middle of the Sahara late at night on a poorly lit bit of wonderful camp tarmac road... whoosh... Noggy Co-worker keeping the skills fresh barrelled out of the Darkness 30C desert evening and I nearly get whipped out... would have made a great accident report
