Retirement Project No 1

VFR-No2-1st-Pic.jpg

Whilst still officially “employed” till the end of this month but having over 4 weeks of holidays left before I actually retire, I’ve started my 1st retirement bike project a bit early!

This machine hasn’t had an easy life over the 24 years since it was registered, but 43k miles isn’t really that much for one of these legendary Hondas. It’s last MOT expired in 2012, so it’s sat around for over 8 or 9 years gathering dust and paint splatter in equal amounts. Oh, it’s also had a little lay down on its left side as well in that time !

The chap I bought it from has owned it for a little over 12 months but due to family circumstances hasn’t been able to give the bike any time or attention, hence it was put up for sale.

I’ve simply replaced all of the fluids & filters, cleaned and inspected and re-greased all the bearings, cleaned, inspected and re-commissioned the brakes and the front forks and the rear suspension unit.

Got the old girl MOTd this morning  and gave her a shackdown run of 70 miles this afternoon (minus the fairings as I’m waiting on a replacement support bracket). I’d forgotten how much grunt that V4 engine puts out and was left wondering why I sold the previous VFR750 I had! Many smiles accompanied those miles and even better - everything worked and nothing fell off, so jobs a goodun :respect13:

Are you sure that that shade of blue is the fastest colour?

Nice one.

I'll get around to putting the 900 Diversion back together one day. There's just too many jobs to do on the house and in the garden at the moment. Still, we're making progress.

Cheers Rob , but honestly, and I know this is hard to believe, I'm older than I look . . . . NOT :respect13:

Got round to dressing the old girl in her plastic "clothes" yesterday. Another ride looms, but not before I test fit the Givi Wingrack that the bike came with

From a nice long shakedown run today - 270 miles and returning over 50mpg . . . even when ridden at Paul S type velocities  :ridebumps: :respect13:
