It's an itch I've had for a while, but these things are unobtanium over here. Seems we're the only country in the world where the Little Honda is not a thing, even the regular C90 is vanishingly rare.

First bit of 'fun' will be wringing out the bank account some more for some 50 year old parts to get this thing running properly, but the first run around the block was already hilarious. In smiles per cc, I'm really not sure the GS is 11 times better. ;)

In theory, it should easily wade through 2ft of water. I say that test should be carried out immediately with onboard video results ?

Yours in anticipation of an early reply, Soho

I live in the Netherlands, we don't do fords here unfortunately. ;)

But yeah, the air intake is right underneath the rear rack in front of the rear shock, so about as high as you can get on this thing.

I can confirm that the low range gearbox works, and is indeed ridiculously low. I rode off thinking yeah ok that's a bit snappier in low range, turns out I was in 4th gear. Rumour has it that in low range first gear this thing will do 5 or so mph at redline, straight up a hill.

First order of business is to get it running properly, it's got a chinese carb on it that isn't right, but I've got the original carb too, just need to fix a leak. Plus small things like new battery so the electrics work (for 6V values of "work"), and a bit of heat shielding on the high exhaust so I don't burn my leg every time I'm on it.

Then ride it a bit to figure out how the hell this thing shifts. Heel-toe shifter, N-1-2-3-4 apparently but I'm still not sure if it's up or down or what. Doesn't help that it goes from 4 straight back to 1 so that needs a bit of attention when you're at speed.

Adventures in 50 year old Honda... It's such a giggle to ride though, even moody as it is right now.

Also, if anyone has that little extra fuel tank lying on a shelf somewhere that goes on the back next to the wheel, I'm all ears, but whatever you do don't look it up on ebay first.

Can confirm that 50 year old o-rings in the carbs aren't quite fit for purpose anymore. Rebuild kit incoming. ;)

Put the original Keihin back on, which was quite a different size than the Chinese knockoff that was on. No wonder it ran a bit iffy. Made the Keihin fuel tap stop leaking fuel, so far so good, except yeah 50 year old carb with airleaks so all it wants to do is redline. Try again in a few days...

Constant Vacuum membrane off the GS for size reference:

It came with a keychain suggesting it came from Chattanooga in the US, which immediately suggested a name, "Choo Choo":

A few days later... ;)

Carb rebuild kit, original Keihin works now. Ish. The screw top had stripped, so had to improvise a slightly different size o ring so it would catch a bit of thread that was still present.
New brake cable, new throttle cable, both looked like they were still the 1972 originals - MUCH better now. New light bulbs all around, it's getting somewhere...

I've also figured out the shift pattern. Good news, it's not a cyclic gearbox, it's N-1-2-3-4 all down. Also put a normale toe shifter on instead of the weird heel-toe thing, it's not a Harley after all. ;)

First test ride now that I know how it works, yeah, this is fun.

Also pretty loud for all its 89 cc, suppose the original zorst has lost a bit of stuffing. :D
