BMW Motorrad Off Road Skills Courses

I’ve recently attended the BMW Off Road Skills level 1 course and thought it would be interesting to jot my thoughts down and share some pics. So the Off Road Skills company is run by Simon (ex Dakar god) & Linley Pavey and their team, they provide off road training on BMW GS Trophy’s 1250 and...

None of this tick tock nonsense! :D

Well I never really gelled with the Tenere 700 Rally, it was in mint condition so never wanted to mess up off-road, and with only 1200 miles on it embarrassingly in 2 years! So it went today and its replacement picked up. Back to the BMW fold after my BMW Off Road Skills training (must do a...

    Maverick (Dirk)

So sorry to announce that we've lost a brother. Dirk AKA Maverick that many of us will know and was a friend to many of us has passed away. He had a long fight with COVID and eventually succumbed. Thoughts are very much with his partner, the boys, family and friends. A very say day.

    Tick tock

In a further variation from Dee Dub’s thread… going to chop in my GSA at Dick Lovett as it’s too big a beastie for my steep drive and it is literally an accident waiting to happen, plus I bought it for commuting which I won’t be doing now. What makes this thread very exciting is that I don’t...

A few pics of the Beemer

I thought I’d stick some pics up of the Beemer as it won’t be looking like this for long! BMW 1250 GSA TE Rallye Done a grand total of 1200 miles so far. Very impressed generally, only PITA is the connectivity to the tft screen.

    280 mile tank range

So it’s nearly time for me to change my GSA for something newer. I’m thinking of a change from another GSA, so any suggestions on something that I will commute on, and can do circa 280 miles on a tank full?

    Touratech email - possible hack

I like many others received a suspicious email today from Touratech. I suspect they’ve been hacked. I think everyone’s had exactly the same email. Just FYI Don’t click on the links.

    Our first grandchild

We’ve just become grand parents for the first time. We’re so excited I just wanted to share the news especially as many of you will have met my lad Ben on a few of the XRV outings and meets. Mother and baby doing well even if the grand parents are a bit frazzled after celebrating.

Keeping the salt and corrosion at bay

Washed the bike this Saturday after a couple of weeks of continuous commuting and a previous ACF50 treatment. God damn that ACF50 attracts the dirt! Took loads of Muc-off and 2 buckets of hot soapy water to get the bike clean. New sponge is now black. Got it clean in the end though. Coated it...

    Heated gear overloading the GSA

It was cold this week so I dug out my heated jacket the other morning. I’ve got a digital switch for it to set the level. Plugged it in and set the level and then plugged my jacket in. Then power was cut and would not come back on until the bike was turned off and on again. So seems to be power...

Pairing TPS on a new set of wheels

I posted on UKGSer but thought I may as well ask here as well. I bought a spare set of wheels some time ago for my GSA LC. I finally got a set of tkc80s fitted by Lee from EMJ Bike Tyres the other month and have fitted them on the bike this weekend. Of course I now have the TPS icon flashing as...

    A white one this time.....

Picked up my new GSA on Saturday from Dick (I) Lovett in Bristol. Pretty much the same as the one I chopped in other than cornering ABS I think and some new Euro gubbins. Busy putting the Akra back on and the Touratech bits and bobs to protect it. Other one had fared reasonably well over 2...
