A legend, that's for sure.
Nobody that I can think of at present comes close to achieving what he did for motor sport.

If I understand right he's the ONLY person to have won Grand prix championships on both 2 and 4 wheels? 500cc bikes in the 50's and Formula 1 in the 60's

Strange thing is I say his passing announced in the french media but could find no trace of it on the BBC world website...

It's a strange world where a singer from a 1970's disco band gets more air time on her passing than a legend like Surtees
