The red bike will be off the road for the winter so I thought I'd best take it for a test ride after fitting engine bars, pannier racks and a sump guard, just to make sure nowt falls off . . .

Spent last sunday in an iron age village. It's an educational thing that's local here, they usually have schoolkids of circa 10 years old roaming the place teaching them about the kind of life when an iron axe was luxury. Nice place, hadn't seen it in almost 40 years (back when I was one such kid) but my mum volunteers there and decided to bring the family along. Good day for it too.

Nice bit of not-quite-iron-age BBQ...

And a bit of archery:

do they practice archery when the kids roam around ....? :) looks like a great experience ! Not sure they had sausages in the iron age ......

Yeah they let the kids to archery. My mum does that, and is very strict about do not cross this line until ALL the arrows are over thataway etc. Was fun. Got 13 out of 21 into the butt on the last run, including the sneaky one on the side there. I'll take that...

First time I've driven through and not ridden through.
I've found that getting the wife and the hounds on the bike can be a bit testing.

No photos but let me paint you a picture... :iconmrgreen:

Last saturday I wanted to go for a bimble, and the bike didn't start.

Long story short, bit of troubleshooting, but here's the thing.

If you have the spark plugs out on both sides, lying on top of the engine to check if the sparkies are sparking as you do, that would be a very good time to consider the concept of twin spark, and the second set of plugs that is in fact still in the engine and might just ignite whatever mixture is in there despite the lack of compression.

So, yeah, ignition happened, and instead of pusing the pistons down it exited through the open plug holes with some sense of urgency.

Which is ofcourse right where my gurning mug was looking at the plugs for sparkies.

WOOF.

Hair still on, thankyouverymuch. But it was close. :iconmrgreen:

I thought it was quite funny. Afterwards. That is, after I'd spatula'd myself off the shed ceiling.

I reckon the fireball shout out about 40-50 cm. Definitely enough to make you sit up and pay attention.

Turns out the plugs were knackered. Fresh set, fired right up.
In hindsight, they'd only been in there since I rebuilt the thing in 2015. Oops.

Less snow about today, just a bit south of the Lecht . . .

Very theraputic, this motorcycling malarky.
110 miles on mainly damp roads, but 10 degrees C and very little traffic saw Steve smiling as every mile passed under the bikes wheels.

Tempted ;)

Take off time

And this is where they go, not bad views of the cairngorms up there I would imagine

Why is there a gate there ? I assume for a push bike which are really popular here. Add on a 700 cc lump and get in. ;) TBH not too demanding, went in around 2 miles and came back out again

Great day out, a bit warmer than the last three or four times I have been out this year :oldman:
