and fancy a bit of off roading?

While I've nothing in particular in mind there are a few places near here that are good for an afternoon but I'm always a bit wary of going into the less accessible stuff on my own. So anyone local fancy a wee adventure?

Possibly me. Are you talking on big bikes or little bikes?

Either I suppose. I have bikes at both ends of the spectrum but I was really thinking of something that possibly involved a bit of work. I've a trail in mind that I just couldn't get through on the big GS Adventure. In reality I don't mind though. What have you got?

A big gsa is all I have. Got an old ts125 that needs work to get it going again.

I'm sure we could come up with something suitable. GSA on Tourances. What could possibly go wrong :)

Just ask Jason about the Strata Florida. He was on Racing Tourances than :eekicon: :rolleyes2:

Knocked myself out on Strata Florida, on a RMX250 with proper knobblies on. Doesn't bode well does It.

a few places near here

Hi Gordon, that's me assimilated too..

Wanted to ask kinda how much ridable stuff is around the place... Have a hankering to inject a little more meaning into my reduced, and highly unpredictable, chances to ride - fancy getting something lighter & tighter than the @ but couldn't justify it at the mo', esp. as there seem so few possibilities without heading to a specialist facility. Going to head over the Talla Fruid road & see if there's a way into Muckle Knowe plantation next chance I get  .. hardly Galloway forest but might be amusing.. some dashed lines on the OS anyway (ref. NT 104 215)

There is... I've been in there before.

Starts of as forestry access roads but after a few miles turns to slippery muddy grass. Really needs knobblies once the forest roads end

I suppose I should add there are a few places near here that are usable but I'm not going to post them up here. Problem is once a place gets known the nutcases on the pit bikes (or even those that just keep going to the same place all the time) soon get the notice of the landowners and police and we loose all access as has happened to my favourite playground. IT now has a 6 foot steel portal fence blocking the way.

Well I just popped out tonight to my second favourite playground and guess what? It's locked up now. OK it's just builders fencing for now but I bet that's just the start of it. We've been using that place for about 30 years and now it looks like it's gone. My money is on the arseholes that used to go to the other place and when they lost access to that they moved in here. Thing is although we were never meant to use it we were tolerated as everyone used it more like a trials practice rather than than tear arseing around.

Sorry to hear that mate.
Took a wind-blown wee spin down to a curio just past Blyth Bridge (towards Peebles) yesterday - only a mile or so of fairly smooth forestry track before it's gated-off, mainly so mate with his year-owned Ten could taste the thrills of off-roading....

That junction onto the A701 from the A72 has to be one of the worst I've ever seen!

I must take a spin down that way and see what I can find. As for the junction do you man all the gravel? If so it's been like that for years it just seems the road surface is incapable of staying in one piece
