As part of the doing away with the paper licences you can now check your driving icence details online you will need your national insurance number , if you dont know your driving licence number you can get away without that , it tells you exactly what you can drive and how many points you may have

It even works for old paper only ones, however the test is at the end of the year when I renew @ 70.
There used to be problems with individuals losing some of their entitlements like missing their bike categories, is this still a problem?

I thinks it's pretty much sorted now, especially with being able to check your entitlement yourself.

You could always 'lose' your old one before applying for your new one, then miraculously find it if there's a problem.

Well, I looked at mine and it says my licence expired in march 2014. I know my D (bus) category expired then but all others are valid till 2017 so why does it say it has expired? Perhaps an Email to DVLA will clear it up, or I might not even bother with it as by their own website I am OK with the others until 2017.


Edit........Just checked the back of my licence and all the other categories are dated 2017, so I will not bother contacting them after all.

can still drive a Tracked Vehicle and a Tractor so I have a GS licence ...

so off to the Highland this summer with all the other Tinks

but rather than park in a beauty spot and collect old fridges, I will dog the single track roads, holding up bikers and folk in hired campervans ....
