That photo, Ian, looks like it might have been at the Manchester bike show when I accommodated Big Traillie on my Zebra stand just after Big Trailie launched.

The photo was from the 2015 NEC show Chris and for me sums up my relationship with Rob perfectly

That year we did the Manchester bike show on your stand was the first time I spent any time with Rob and little did I know I'd met someone who I'd later think of more like a brother than a friend

I'm going to miss him dearly but am grateful for the time I spent with him and for introducing me to Andy (not forgetting Shirley and Paul) who we plan to make many more memories with in the future

Am only just catching up with this shocking news having seen something on Facebook...really truly awful. First met Rob at the super sausage cafe near Milton Keynes and admired his beautifully restored RWB Africa Twin. Then bumped into him again on way to National Rally in Cumbria (2014?). He was always a gentle soul and great company. Can't quite believe the news, so shocked. My sincere condolences to all his family , Lou

As with others, I've seen something on FB and popped here to allay my fears but scrolling down to this section has not done that. :(

Absolutely devastating news and I know you (Ian) and a few others on here were really close to Rob, I met Rob a few times and he was a good lad, who knows what makes someone do such a thing but it's usually some kind of mental illness/depression that's such a minefield and almost untreatable, such a shame he could not be helped in time, very sad news.

Ian, you have my number if you need to chat mate, call me any time.

Although I didn't know Rob that well, I am 'hoping' to make the funeral on 21st to see him off.
I just need to try to rearrange a couple of things at this end first.
I'll confirm nearer the time.

Phil

My condolences & thoughts to the family and friends, unfortunately will be at another funeral that day. I lost a good mate before Christmas, who left this world the same as Rob, the unanswered questions they leave behind must be insignificant to the torture they must have been fighting with!
RIP Rob, go for a blast with Frad

Sorry to hear that Stuart, I'm lost for anything to say other than you are also in our thoughts and we're here if you need anything.

Well said

No matter the pain and sorrow we feel we'll never understand the place they were in

Hi Ian,

I thought I would post this PM that I had from Rob last year, it just goes to show that whatever turmoil he was going through he was still thinking of others.

Hi Bob,

I've got a petty big favour to ask and I'm not sure how to go about the logistics of it either.

I've a good mate, Pete Symes, who had a major off whilst competing in the Manx GP seniors last year. The fact he's survived the accident itself is astounding, however he has lost the lower part of his left leg.
Over the past 12 months he's made some steady progress, but as of late he's struggling to come to terms with this.
I was hoping that if he could meet you, and see how you still ride and carry on that it might give him a little window of encouragement and hope and get his mind in a more positive place.
I know it's quite a lot to ask, but if there is any chance you could help us out I would be very grateful.
Pete is a real character, and has been a really good mate for many years. I'm pretty sure you pair would get on anyway!

Hope to speak to you soon anyway.

Rob

I don't know if you know the guy he's talking about but perhaps he and/or Rob's family might like to see this?

cheers, Bob.

cheers Bob,

we'd discussed this on a few occasions and I knew he'd contacted you to try and arrange something

if I'm honest I think he was asking as much for himself as for Pete, he never really came to terms with it either as it was so close to home (Rob used to race the Manx with Pete in years gone by)

I don't know Pete that well myself but if we get chance to speak to him we'll let him know

As we don't have many bikers wanting to ride in Sam has requested that we just make our own way to to Crem and meet there
