So, we just did 400 odd miles today up to the northernmost corner of the isle of Skye , mostly In rain and temperatures between 3 and 8c. And yet the ride was a pleasure right to the end. Full heated heated jackets are great :).

Oh and the hostel I am in is just great. Proper multi national ie full of hot totty from France Spain, and st least two other languages I can't make e out. :).

Anne days says no kilts though :(

Looks like you got the best of the weather Austin,

Apologies, thought I'd sent a message giving my mob no for a hook up.

It didn't send for some reason, dunno what happened there :eekicon:

If you are still up North tomorrow ( monday ) , send me a pm, might manage something

Re: Heated jackets are great.

We are back home now. 380 of 400 miles done in sunshine with the temp hitting 19c mid afternoon. Heated jackets not required. But as we approached Kendal we ride into a thick bank of fog and the temp dropped from 16 to 8c in a matter of minutes over a couple of miles. Amazing and apparently it's been like that all weekend here.

Sorry we missed you John, we left at 7.30 to meet Rick at Kyle for a breakfast and a coffee. Another time perhaps.

We avoided Loch Lomond traffic by going the quick way via Newtonmore and the A9. We stopped a Dunkeld for lunch and were walking up the road - on the pavement when Anne got whacked on the arm by the wing mirror of a car passing so close he was virtually on the pavement. It slowed down but didn't stop and I was so cross I phoned the police with reg number etc. that turned into a visit to Perth police station for a statement and so on. Luckily Anne had her bike jacket on and the armour took the worst of the impact but there's still a big bruise growing. Without the armour it would have been a lot worse. The rest of the journey was uneventful thankfully. I wi start a thread with some pics later when I have unpacked the camera.

Dunkeld main street is so tight but being almost on the pavement deserves a conversation with the boys in blue (or black as it is now). I trust you are running after her due to her medical condition.....

Disgraceful, there's no way that driver didn't know he'd struck something so drove off on purpose. Maybe he seen you in your biker gear and thought, "I'm going to get my head kicked in if I stop", so panicked and made good his escape. Still, no excuse though and hopefully the CCTV of a nearby shop may have caught it.

The police said he had 24 hours to report it to the police otherwise it would be noted as a "failing to stop". They said deffo will follow it up either way and if he doesn't report it almost certain to do him/her for failing to stop. I think it's a fairly serious one that. Annes arm is just a bit bruised and sore now.
