Oh no, we're not associating "lightweight drinkers" with similar camping tendencies ?????

at least I know where my shoelaces are  Spooky :D

Last minute meet up today with a mate from Somerset, so we met at Stonehenge and decided to visit The Bruce Arms to check it out and have lunch there. We had good sized lunch for £7.50 (fish and chips & ham, egg and chips).

Out the back of the pub is a small car park and then the camping field - a flat, well-drained rectangle. Camping is £5 a night per person. We'd easily get 40 or so of us - what we had this year - but it might get a bit of a squeeze if numbers grow way beyond that. He said there was sometimes a problem with people bringing massive tents and he was thinking of charging a "bedroom tax" for those  . I didn't ask about sofas :thumbsupanim: .

There are several electricity hook-ups and the landlord can put up a small marquee if we want it. In the pub is a games room and we can take that over if it's peeing down, or to put on a band. He can also do a communal dinner - chilli con carne or something like that - if we want it. He does breakfasts, but I forgot to ask how much. Nice beer. There's wifi. There was a vodafone signal for calls but not data.

The local roads are great. Stonehenge is 30 minutes away. There are loads of other monuments and plenty of good places to visit that would involve long, winding roads. Green lanes and Salisbury Plain are very close.

I had a quick look at the toilets, which are clean and newish, but I think there are only two showers, which might be an issue.

I've got the guy's details so if we want to book this place let me know. If we were to get a lot more people I am sure we could sort out some portable shower units/toilets.

Chris,

Looks good to me, thanks for taking the time :thumbsupanim:

If there are a shortage of toilets, can we not just p1ss against the wall ??

Never liked that Hadrian guy anyway :mockery22:

sounds good to me, will defo need a few day extra to travel.... we dont need a dedicated games room.... just put is in a room and there are alway games... thread the needle with Meesh is alway popular :)

presumably we're doing this the second weekend in September - something like 10 - 13th?

sounds OK to me,

(personally the sooner we set the date the better as Ruth has to have her leave in at the beginning of December to stand a chance of getting it off)

Is the first w/e (3rd - 6th) still in the holiday season and therefore too expensive/ difficult to book? Otherwise it would be better from my perspective work-wise to go for the earlier weekend...

But as ever, happy to go with forum consensus.

sooner the date is nailed the more chance i have to get it on the family calendar :D First come first booked in this hoose :idea-013:

OK, just noticed that Whealie is all over it like a tramp on cheesy chips.
