Ullapool - a day trip for me :-)

Took the scenic route to Ullapool this morning on the Strom, seeing as Sundays weather ain't supposed to be too good . . . . . . .

The Strom has now gathered a further 2k miles under it's wheels since I took ownership of it. And those miles have just kept on pushing the bike into close contact with my "glee gland" :eekicon:

Today I covered a mere 245 miles, and if it wasn't for the fact that I'd used 50 odd miles worth of fuel before I set off, I reckon I could have done the whole day on less than a tank of fuel - 63mpg when topped up at Ullapool

And as those of you out there that know me, I do like to enjoy a wiggly road when one comes my way :thumbsupanim:

So I say Bollicks to what the arty farty bike magazine journo's say about the 1k Strom - it fuggin rocks.

Now, where did I stash those knobblies I removed from the F650Gs Twin?

Nice one Steve, I've got the older Strom (2002) and used it for about 8 years and it's been a fantastic bike.

A bike is what you make it, any bike can be fun if you just get out there and have a blast. :)

You are correct Phil, I am enjoying the bike :thumbsupanim:

And yes Craig, any bike is what YOU make it, not what someone else says its like.
It's just that some machines are easier for their riders to get to like a whole lot more . . . . . and this Strom is that for me :thumbsupanim:

Seriously need new tyres for it now though - I've given the edges of the standard fit Death-Wings a jolly good work out, in an attempt to even out the tyre wear that was present when I got the bike, but even I have to admit that 1mm of tread on Highland roads just aint enough :eekicon: :thumbsupanim:

Is that the road up by the council tip then ?

Bet you're glad you never went out on the Sunday, bloody winds at Belladrum music festival caused havoc with the tents on the Sunday morning, never seen such tent carnage. We were ok,just, but my Kyham biker folded up, haven't looked at it yet cos the winds are still up.
Just as well my daughter wasn't in it at the time, she had gone to a portaloo, which in iteslf isn't an issue, but shortly after she left, three of the loos blew over  :D

Anyways, nice shots Steven, looks like you have a keeper ???

Just done a little measuring around the front mudguard area - doesn't look like TKC80's will be adorning the front wheel of the Strom anytime soon  .

Unless of course I can knock up a set of front fender raising plates :D

Good to talk earlier John - now go get those tyres fitted and scrubbed in properly before you head off to Euroland with The Boss on the back ;)

PS - And yes, it could well be a "keeper" :eekicon:  :thumbsupanim:
