Strontian again – hey-ho
A delayed & re-scheduled gathering of the ADV Scotland Clan was held at a rather damp (again) Strontian campsite. The campsite isn’t really damp, is it Rick , it’s just the west coast weather attracting the dampness!
Many said they’d attend but the weather was almost an exact repeat of 2019s meet – wet, wet, wet! That and the stupidity driven fuel shortage meant many stayed at home. Shame really, as it was great to gather & blether and carry out the much practiced medical procedure at this sort of event of Pish-Taking.
Here are pictures of most of the machines that brought their loyal riders north (and south!) . . .
No picture of a certain Skye dwellers bike or of the man frae Fifes machine. The Skye manny had come & gone before I’d even arrived on Friday afternoon (he can explain ) and the Fifer headed off early doors on Saturday morning. I also failed to photo the late arrivals bikes on Friday night – sorry chaps, forget your names, but you both have excellent taste in motorcycles – A TA650 and a TA700.
Most prevalent machine – the iconic Honda Transalp in both 650 & 700cc form – Qty 4. That’s the 2nd year that the Alps have out-numbered all other machines at this annual event
Eldest & I decided to make the most of an apparent 3 hour gap in the downpours on Saturday morning and headed for Lochaline and some little roads (tarred and not ) around that area of the peninsular
Spotted this as we wandered . . .
A local geological feature . . .
And some dirty bits . . .
Saturday evenings BBQ was great – Cheers again to Tim the campsites owner – you & yours are fantastic hosts and incredibly tolerant people.
Final photie from me taken as we near the other side of the water before an increasingly drying run home . . .
Huge thanks to LWR for yet again arranging a great gathering and a big thanks also to all those that ventured north & south to attend – great to see old (Al), young (Jack – respect fella, respect ) and new faces.
