TKC's never found them road frendly, just like driving a landrover. The tourances i have found to be brilliant in wet and even on light tracks. i keep a set of Metzeler Karroo3's in the garage for planed off roading, they also have the landrover whine built in.
If I'm being honest, it was the look they gave the bike I liked but, in the end, the minimal amount of green laning I do didn't justify the 3000 mile life of the tyre.
3,000 miles? I got over 8,000 from the rear tyre and 12,000 from the front. I agree they're not very pleasant on the road, and as the tread approaches the legal limit they wouldn't be great in the dirt either!!!
OK, the front one may have lasted a bit longer but the back was certainly around 3K and that was only with light green laning. I'm generally quite a conservative rider and most of the miles were motorway.
That included a mixture of riding, including nearly 4k miles to Tuscany and back at constant high speed in blistering heat... not ideal for soft compound rubber! Frankly the rear didn't wear much faster than Michelin Anakees. They transformed the Vara off road, but handled oddly on road and created a lot of vibration. Enjoy the Tourances!
