Carol bought tickets for a ride on above as part of my birthday. Went to Aviemore to the Strathspey railway line, a bunch of volunteers running steam locos around the Cairngorm area. One of my neighbours drives one of the locos, hence the connection.

Great day out, lots of folk lining the route waving like deranged hippies Thought it wasn't my cup of tea, but really enjoyed the scenery and the experience.

Nah. Some trainspotter was camped out there, said it would be along around one... I was there at 11 though, and had a boat to catch so I didn't hang around to wait.

Would've made a great picture though.

We saw a steam train on our Saturday ride out at Dent. Not the Flying Scotsman though.

Superb mate I volunteered at steamtown Carnforth as a kid and lucky enough to ride on the fire plate of the FS and being small been inside her fire box to clean it out along with the smokebox

Was certainly an interesting day.
Just heard the Scotsman hit a stationary loco in Aviemore at the weekend. A few folk with minor injuries. Hope it won't amount to anything but there will be the inevitable inquest as to how it happened.
