Hill Ride - 2015 Number 1

As the weather has put it’s “sunny” hat on, a decision was made to make the most of the dryness and go for a ride. Really what I wanted to do was put some proper miles under the wheels of the CBF1000 that’s been sitting in my garage waiting for my back to recover enough  for me to be able to ride my new ride.

Met up with The Mountie at the pre-determined time, both of us with fully fuelled machines, plotted up a rough route, then set off seeking the sun and dry roads.
The route was a simple one – it has to be for us to follow it – and we soon got into a groove, with the Mountie leading and me sucking up the salt dust being kicked up by his rear wheel. We rolled through Dufftown and rode on towards the Cabrach.
Half way between there and nowhere we pulled over and listened to the world turning on it’s axis, such was the depth of the silence. Well nearly, if it wasn’t for the sound of the exhausts pinging away as we stared into miles and miles of empty hills and glens (no pictures, we were being at one with nature and didn’t want to spoil it with the sound of digital shutters clicking :rolleyes2: ;) ).

After we’d observed a few rotational degrees movement of the globe, we re-mounted and set off for a lube stop some miles further south, near Corgarff. At the first stop we were both grinning like the big kiddies that we are, such was the fun feeling generated by the 1st real salt / grit free ride of the year :D . When we stopped for our lube break at Corgarff, after traversing the Strathdon road, we were both bouncing with much joyesness, such was the fun factor of the road just travelled :D :D :D :thumbsupanim: .
The bacon roll & tea was much needed and enjoyed in equal measure, and once fully digested we set off on the northern leg of our ride, taking us back towards Dufftown, over the Lecht, via some bwilliant roads.

I was allowed to kick up the dust for the Mountie to ingest on this leg of our journey, and to say I was having a ball would be truly understating it. A BLAST, all the way to Dufftown on one of my favourite local roads.

In the town of Duff, we stopped to compare the width of our grins – it was a draw, but mine felt bigger :eekicon: :D . Home called, so we answered with our throttle hands and covered the final 15 miles at a progressive rate that had our aging tickers working over time – not for the first time today.

115 miles in great company, on my new to me bike, on fanbloodytastic local roads. I think me & the CBF are bonding – but I’ll enjoy throwing more miles under it’s wheels, just to make sure
