Well, who'd have thought it. 7 months old today. Took him to the shoot this afternoon with the intention of letting him hunt in an area where there was game scent.
Joined the guys as they walked up a short strip of cover - nice and open for the most part, with bits of cover here and there, so it was easy to keep an eye on the pup at all times.
Working along side and old spaniel, he did his own thing, covering the ground in a good pattern. After no more than 50yds he comes upon scent. His tail goes into overdrive as he works into some cover . . . . . . . and out pops a pheasant. He moves, but stops on the whistle as the bird flies off - RESULT. Well impressed with the little chap.
He popped another bird towards the end of the cover . . . . and moved on it . . . . . only to find himself in a water filled drain I had to pull him out as the sides of the drain were vertical.
That'll be his introduction to water completed as well then
Great working start to the young fellas working life
