Since Rob passed away ..........

I have thought a lot since Rob passed away and feel it has affected all of us in many different ways, the ride to the funeral was for me was the feeling of unbelievable pride in being a part of this amazing group of people and such an honour that Catherine made us such a big part of Rob's final journey. I also feel it has brought the forum members (XRV/Big Trailie) closer together and we really must treasure the fantastic friendships we all have, life is too short.

And to quote a forum member "With the passing of Rob, it just goes to show how close everyone on the site is and are genuinely concerned about everyone else, despite all the pee taking"

We'll said Debs, pity your sensible attitude couldn't rub off on your better half :D

On a serious note, I totally agree. I was gutted when I couldn't make the funeral due to work. But I had quiet wee moment to myself on the day.
It's at moments like this when you find like minded people grieving for a true friend , that you realise what these two forums stand for , certainly mean lot to me anyway

Well put Debs, and I am sure it echoes the thoughts of all the members both here and on XRV. Long may that sentiment continue.

True. This is one of those rare beasts online, a social group that feels like a bunch of close friends you can trust (mostly ) even if you've never met half of them before. Something that's very hard to create and all too easy to lose. Piss taking is part of it it seems, you need a level of trust to do it well without getting nasty. The usual pattern seems to be 3 posts to make sure someone's ok and then the pisstaking starts. ;) On the other hand if someone or something's not ok, people will do what they can to help. I've seen that happen a number of times already, one that sticks in my mind is stevec's (?) crash where he got his bike back better than it was by the time he got out of the hospital. And obviously this one for Rob is quite special...

So carry on you big softies.

This is something that is always in my thoughts, we all live in different parts of the country and don't make enough effort ( me) to make plans and spare the time to meet up, even if it's just for an hour to have a coffee and a catch up.

Friends are an important part of our lives and life is too short.

Time to make more of an effort I think ;)

I can only add to everything. I've been absent of late but still think and honour the support I received. I wrote to Rob the night before he passed away and had tears in my eyes for most of it. A cherished mate that I met twice.
