I left home this morning to head over by Bonchester Bridge to Keilder, sun shining, but a bit nippy, so only stopped once for a picture about half way.
As there was only one other bike at Keilder cafe I had a fag then left to go by Bellingam for breakfast a the Riverside tea room at Chollerford near Hexam. Coming out I saw something in the car park I have never seen before, on the road that is.
An Ariel Atom, pretty basic they are too, all the disadvantages of a bike, but without the advantages, if you know what I mean.
From there I intended to go to Rothbury, but I got distracted by little back roads and after wandering about I came out on the A696 below Kirkwhelpington so headed north towards God's own country.
Catcleugh Reservoir on the English side of Carter Bar.
About three miles in to Scotland I took a right turn over another wee back road that takes you through Oxnam towards Jedburgh.
A couple of views from the hills above Crailing looking towards Kelso.
You can not see Kelso from there, but take my word for it, it's there behing the hills.
Across the river Tweed to Floors Castle, home of the Duke of Roxburgh, pleased I am not his window cleaner.
Eildon Hills near Melrose, extinct volcanoes I am led to believe
Continuing up the A68 I turned off at Lauder and made over the hill to Stow.
Vey hard to get a decent picture up there without it having a 'kin wind turbine in it, the bloody things are taking over the landscape.
More back roads were travelled to Walkerburn for coffee and then home, all in all, a good days meandering, and by the way, isn't the Border country a bit nice?
