I managed to lose the cover over the swingarm pivot nut a while back.
Goodness knows where it went - I even cleaned out the shed but couldn't find it. Must have been "lost on the road". Yep, I have realised that the footrest hanger needs painting to cover the bare patches - and that the bike needs a wash.
The original cover from Honda (Part No: 90302-MS6-620) is £8.22 including VAT but not postage. It's a common part and used on a fair few of Honda's bike, so goodness knows why it's so expensive.
Anyway, here in Bodger's Corner we can do better - and cheaper!
The hole in the footrest hanger is 38mm or 1.5 inches in real money. What I was after was a thing called a blanking grommet, normally used to fill in holes in electrical panels and the like. Had no luck with my usual local suppliers, so onto fleabay to see what could be found. Came up with 10 38mm blanking grommets posted for £2.33. Not too shabby.
Delivered a couple of days later. This is what they look like -
Just need to trim the inner lip off with a craft knife -
It's not a really tight fit into the footrest hanger, but it fits -
And if it falls off, all I've lost is 23.3p - bit cheaper than £8.22 and postage - and I've got another 9 to replace it with.
Job done. Or should that be job bodged?
