So just a bit of info that may help some people.
If you are running windows 10, check you are on update 22H2, which is supported until 14 Oct 25. Anything lower is not being supported any more.
Goto "settings", then select "about", under "windows specifications" look at version.

I can even remember seeing a punched papertape being loaded. ( i was only10 years old)

Fortunately never had to deal with "real" tape drives...
