Don't worry, the tank and fairing still look a mess. ;) But it's parked indoors nowadays instead of under a tree all year long, that really cuts down on the vegetation.

Paint might still happen sometime, but definitely not now. Time to put some miles on first...

I like the look of this one:

(Not the K1 obviously, though even that looks slightly less old in white.)

Funny too. I got on it, turned the key, pressed the starter. Hmm doesn't wanna.

Oh, yeah, petrol taps.

Pressed the starter again, still doesn't wanna.

Oh yeah, chokes.

Silly modern bikes make you lazy. Anybody wanna buy a K1100LT? :D

But yes, lotsa different.

The main obvious thing, no big arsed fairing keeping the wind off. Bit nippy on the motorway after all this time on the old man's bike. Much different seating position too, the K feels like you're holding a wheelbarrow, quite comfy. The GS with the wide bars was a bit different again. Much more in control, much lighter and despite having less power than the K it feels like more so.

This thing will go quite well once it's been run in and had the mixture and ignition tweaked a bit, nevermind the set of 40mm Dellortos I have on the shelf. :D But it's already quite obvious that it's got way bigger boots than the original bike. It goes well.
