I got other plans for 2015,and I'm only throwing this as an idea into the air.

:idea-013: 2016 - Middle Norway (mountains) and west coast fjords maybe ? If it were a Big Trailie thing, we would at least all know each other (unlike many of the the other do's I attend :( )

I would be there!!!!
Pls come over all of You!
I'll bring cheap blondes and expensive beer!

OK.

Ages to go,so plenty of time to sort something.

I may actually be selling my present AT outfit soon as I'm no longer playing the injury card, and sorting instead one of my Dommies as a touring bike ( I'm so getting' into the weight advantage and general chuck ability of the 650 ).

Anyways lets have your ideas. June /July / Aug ? - Holland, Denmark to Kristiansand via north Jutland ferry ? On the cheap ? 7 / 10 / 14 days or more ? Part way by vans, doubling up bikes maybe ? Commercial ferry routes etc ?
You will be on a bike rather than the outfit Nick ?...... Suits me fella.

The fant build is well underway and will be ready for the trip. I think it would be a 14 day round trip huh ?.

I went in early july and it was still cold :)

I think there is a good reason why the 'locals' take ALL of August off 10 days minus UK travel in mid August? :)

One possible route to Norway
http://goo.gl/maps/xXiee

Another route if you do not mind driving through Sweden.
http://goo.gl/maps/CMyhm

I would concentrate on the area between Trondheim in the north and Stavanger in the south.
Western boundary would be the sea and to the east the Swedish border is the natural limit.

A lot of fantastic scenery and roads inside that square of Norway.
I think it would require a lot more time if you descide to go further north.

As we have some Norwegians on this forum I'm sure they could be very helpful to advice on roads and sites.
I too have some minor information I would be glad to share if required.

I'll meet up either in Norway or in Gothenburg depending on the route You choose.

Good! Plannes for 2016 on the way!

Remenber that a lot of minor roads on higher altitudes are only open between early june to late september/early october.
The rest of the year they are snow covered and not keept open.

I usually go in the first half of june for that year first Norway tour.

I have had temperatures ranging from + 25 degrees down to - 5 degrees C.
However, I might be a lucky sod, but I have had sun and warm weather 80 % of the time.
If visiting in early june and driving on higher altitudes, the ground beside the roads is still covered by some meters of snow.

August is a more stable month for good weather, but the roads are full of visiting cars packed with tourists
No fun meeting a campingvan racing downhill and with overheated brakes, driven by a desperate middle aged Dutch music teacher... :27:

What about July, midway between June n August? If it was cold when Raymond visited in July won't June be colder?

July is better, since the kind of roads You guys would appreciate would be open, and the tourists hords have not yet invaded the roads.

Either there is an in- joke going on or someone has hijacked the thread and replaced the video. I see a Russian or something reading something in russian from a sheet of paper for 3 minutes. Oh, and there's a giant gold fish tank too. [confused]

Video working fine here - just as it did when I first viewed it.

What device are you trying to watch the video on?

Kjell's link works and I think that is next years big trip sorted. Anticlockwise round the Baltic then Denmark to Iceland for a lap round there too. :)

Iceland requires at least a full week to ride around, and then there will be no longer stops.
Best would be two weeks.
Denmark is a very nice country, but a bit dull bike wise compared to Norway.
And just to avoid angry Danes on my doorstep I'd better add that the south and middle part of Sweden is not that thrilling either.

I should have 6 or more weeks for the trip. :) I would have thought that's enough.
